Arts Week

We had a wonderful time during Arts Week as we created our own iMovies. Our theme was ‘technology rules’ so we researched how technology helps us, how we have used technology during year 3 and how technology has changed over the years. We even got to see Robbie the Robot showing us his dance moves! Well done to everybody for creating such imaginative iMovies.

3GT Trip to the Gurdwara

We had a fantastic time learning about Sikhism at the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Smethwick this week. Amazingly, the Gurdwara is the largest in Europe , spanning a total area of 70,000 square metres. We learnt that in Sikhism, the Five Ks are five items that Khalsa Sikhs wear. These items, which are a creation of Guru Gobind Singh, are Kara, Kachera, Kirpan, Kesh and Kanga. What a wonderful day we had!

Maths

This week, we have been learning all about angles. We had to identify a right angle as a quarter turn and understand that an angle is a description of a turn. We can now recognise that two right angles make a half-turn, three right angles make three quarters of a turn and four right angles make a complete turn. What else have we learnt 3GT?

Refugee Week

As it is Refugee Week, Helena from St. Chad’s Sanctuary came to visit our school to talk about the struggles refugees and asylum seekers face in Birmingham. St Chad’s Sanctuary is a place for asylum seekers and refugees which aims to make people feel welcome through the provision of practical support, English classes and welfare support. Thank you to all the parents and children who have donated their belongings to help refugee families in Birmingham.

Eid party

Today in 3GT, we have been celebrating Eid. We played games, had a dance and ate some tasty treats. We had a great afternoon!

Maths in 3GT

Today in our maths lesson, we have been using different measuring equipment to measure lengths to the nearest metre. We used a trundle wheel, rulers and tape measures to measure the length of the classroom and equipment such as tables.
